How a more connected clinic affects the patient experience.
The system behind your clinic affects what patients experience — how they join a queue, whether previous information can be found, how they know when their turn is approaching, and how they access permitted information after a visit.
The patient experience, stage by stage
Less uncertainty before arriving
Where the Smart Queue module is configured, patients can check their queue position remotely — reducing time spent waiting in a crowded room. Where appointment booking is enabled, they can confirm their slot ahead of time.
- Remote queue position check (where configured)
- Estimated arrival recommendations
- Appointment confirmations (where booking is enabled)
Less repeated information entry
When a patient record exists in the system, doctors and nurses can pull up previous consult notes, allergies, and historical lab values without asking the patient to repeat them. Lab orders flow from consultation to the lab workspace without paper slips.
- Instant chart lookup at triage and check-in
- Connected consultation context for returning patients
- Digital lab order generation without paper requisition slips
Fewer routine follow-up calls
Where messaging is configured, patients can receive automated notifications when lab results are verified and ready — reducing the need to call reception. Where patient access is included in the clinic's implementation, verified patients can view permitted documents online.
- Result availability alerts (where messaging is configured)
- Prescription document reference
- Permitted patient access to clinical documents (where patient access is included)
Patient Record vs. Patient Account
A patient does not need a Clinic Labs account for the clinic to maintain a patient record or provide care.
Where patient access is included in your clinic's implementation, a verified patient account can be used to view information the clinic explicitly makes available to them. Patients do not directly edit clinical chart entries.
HMO, Messaging & External Integrations
Patient-facing features that involve external parties — HMO card processing, messaging providers, or lab system connections — depend on provider access, configuration, and applicable regulations.
These capabilities are scoped and qualified during discovery; not all clinics will require or enable every external integration.
